The title of the programme refers to one of the most famous love madrigals by Claudio Monteverdi Lamento della Ninfa. The Le nuove musiche ensemble’s concert programme will also present other famous love madrigals by the phenomenal composer, such as the controversial Cruda Amarilli and other madrigals from Monteverdi’s 6th and 7th books. The audience will thus hear the development of the composer’s compositional style from polyphonic works unaccompanied by basso continuo to his dramatic and highly expressive works in stille concitato or stille rappresentativo. Monteverdi’s works will be interpreted by five outstanding Czech and Slovak vocal soloists, specialists in the field of early music. Baroque guitar and viola da gamba will be in the hands of Pierre Pitz, a student and nowadays teacher of the early music department of the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. The international cast of the ensemble is expanded by harpist Maximilian Ehrhardt, a graduate of the Conservatory in Amsterdam and the Academy in Milan. The ensemble will be led by Jakub Mitrík, an experienced theorist, lutenist and guitarist, thanks to whom many forgotten domestic and foreign works have come to life on Slovak stages in the last decade.
